Greetings! We are Andrew and Anna, recent graduates of New Mexico State University and married since June of 2017.
While studying at NMSU we both enjoyed serving in campus ministries. We each were able to go on a mission trip that not only strengthened our own faith but also gave us opportunities to serve others and share our faith (Anna in Lake Tahoe in 2015, and Andrew in East Asia in 2014). In 2017 we graduated, got married, moved to Texas, and promptly jumped in to busy careers in the hospitality industry. While we are grateful for our jobs and the life we have here in Texas, both of us have felt a longing to take more time to grow in our faith together--to experience how God is moving around the world and be a part of it!
For this reason, we have made the decision to resign from our jobs, put our stuff into storage, and embark on a six-month mission experience with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) based in Maroochydore, Australia! In a nutshell, we’ll be spending three months at the base in Australia alongside other students in an intensive Discipleship Training program—learning more about God’s character, theology, and world cultures. The next three months will be spent visiting four or five countries to put what we learned into practice. While we will not know the specific countries we will be visiting until a later time, we can expect to encounter many different cultures. For example, last year our program served in Thailand, India, Greece, Uganda, and Brazil. In each country we will spend 2-3 weeks seeking opportunities to share our faith as well as serving and supporting the long-term missionaries who reside there.
As part of this team, we are seeking financial support to help cover expenses of the trip. There are numerous costs involved including tuition for the YWAM training, airfare, Visa expenses, health and travel insurance, and general living expenses. Our budget calls for approximately $17,500, and we plan to cover at least $10,000 of that out of our own budget and savings. While deciding to do this trip has a large cost, we are confident that this is the right opportunity for us and that the Lord will provide what we need. Would you prayerfully consider giving $50, $100, or even $200 towards this work? Of course, whatever amount the Lord would lead you to give is the right amount. While asking for monetary support is always uncomfortable, God has shown us that many people look for opportunities to invest in the kingdom of God. For instance, we have experienced incredible joy from giving to a few of our friends who are serving the Lord around the globe.
In addition to requesting financial support, we are also in need of prayer support, which is arguably even more important. Pray for Australia and the other nations we will visit. Pray for the people that we will meet. Pray that we would bring encouraging words, our hearts and hands ready to serve others. “Finally brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord will spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.” (2 Thessalonians 3:1)
