Update on Kona

First, I just want to say thank you. Truly. We’ve raised $480 so far and I can’t even put into words how much that means to me and Kona.

Over the past few days, Kona’s condition has changed. What started as a small lump has now ulcerated (opened), and it’s become an exposed wound that is easily irritated and bleeds when disturbed. She’s still acting like herself — happy, playful, and always ready for snacks — but the mass itself has gotten worse on the surface and now needs more urgent attention.

We’ve been working closely with our vet, and while Kona is currently on medication to help manage inflammation, this is not a long-term solution. The tumor needs to be surgically removed as soon as possible to prevent infection, continued bleeding, and further complications.

I’ve been doing everything I can — selling personal items, adjusting finances, and trying every option available — but I still need help getting her the care she needs.

If you’ve already donated, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If you’re able to share this or contribute, it would mean everything to us. Even prayers are highly valuable .

Kona is my girl. She’s still wagging her tail, still asking for belly rubs, still trusting me to take care of her — and I’m doing everything I can to make sure I don’t let her down.

Thank you for being part of helping her heal.

Kona is more than just a pet to me — she’s been my constant through some really difficult times. She has this spunky energy and a way of brightening everything around her that’s hard to put into words.

Getting this diagnosis came out of nowhere, and it’s been a lot to process — emotionally and financially. I’ve already been dealing with ongoing challenges, including a long and difficult process with Social Security, so this has added another layer of stress at a time when things were just starting to feel a little more stable.

Even now, Kona is still herself — tail wagging, playful, and completely unaware of what’s going on. She just knows she’s loved and safe, and I want to keep it that way for her.
