My mother has dementia, Right before she was diagnosed, when she was of pretty sound mind, she got a reverse mortgage. Her insurance company dropped her because her roof was too old, replacing a roof is a lot of money. In this instance, because we couldn't find an insurance company to insure her, the reverse mortgage company instituted something that is called "forced insurance," which is very very expensive. They implemented two years' worth (even though it has barely been a year), and the cost is in excess of 10,000.00 - if she doesn't pay this amount very soon, she will lose her home and go into foreclosure. I am her son, and I am trying desperately to avoid this at any and all costs. We take care of my mom so she doesn't have to go to a home and I will not let that happen. Please help, I hate doing this, I hate it so much but I don't know what else to do.
