I'm a 33-year-old mother of three beautiful children, aged 9, 6, and 2. I've recently been diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer, amidst the process of navigating a divorce. I relocated to the US from Poland in 2013, without family or any support system. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for the last 8 years and currently have no income or way to take out any loans. Throughout my life, I have weathered many hardships, including the loss of my mother to cancer when I was only 6 years old. In 2017 I also lost my little sister and only sibling to cancer, she was only 22.
I can’t leave my children here alone. They’re too young to lose their mom like I did. I'm the only person they can rely on as a caregiver. I'll do anything to make sure I'm there for them, no matter what. My pride and resilience makes this almost impossible for me to write... I'm asking for more than I could ever expect.
Sincerely with the deepest humility, I’m begging for help.
I need to pay for more than my treatment. I'm trying to raise money to save myself for my children.
I have Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, a mutation in the TP53 gene, which would typically suppress cancer cell growth. In my case, this gene is inactive, and allowed the development of cancer in my body.
My mother, her father, both of her brothers, and my little sister all died from cancer. In 2016, I was diagnosed with this mutation and found a cancerous polyp in my colon, leading to part of it being removed. I was also diagnosed with a stable brain tumor that isn’t causing issues. Additionally, in 2016, I underwent a preventive double mastectomy followed by breast reconstruction.
I underwent blood tests every three months and a full-body MRI annually to ensure everything was in good condition. My scans consistently came back clear. I made an effort to take care of both my body and mind to the best of my ability.
On Friday, December 6th, 2024, I sought urgent care due to some unusual abdominal pain and bloating, symptoms I don't usually experience. After experiencing discomfort for a week, I felt it was necessary to have it examined. I was subsequently referred to the ER, where a CT scan uncovered a mass on my ovary. My oncologist requested an immediate appointment, which took place the following Monday. Unfortunately, the prognosis indicated cancer. My last whole-body MRI in September of this year revealed no problems, so this mass must have developed in the interim, growing to a size of 4.5 cm and being a stage 3. Additionally, over 1.5 liters of fluid is drained from my abdomen every two weeks, a result of the underlying condition. Just the fluid drainage costs $3,000 every two weeks. I can't afford it and I'm going more and more into debt.
March 2026 - I have an update… and unfortunately, it’s not a very good one.
My latest bloodwork showed that my cancer marker, CA125, is very high — the highest it’s ever been. It is lower than the result before this one, but it’s still almost double what it was when I was first diagnosed. I was diagnosed with 585, I went down to 174 at some point, and the latest result showed 905 (the one before this was 1200).
To give a little more context, CA125 is an inflammation marker. In my case, a high result can mean the cancer is much more active than before, which would obviously be very bad. However, it can also be affected by other things happening in the body - gut inflammation, high stress, a recent illness, or even a menstrual period. I was actually experiencing the last three when my blood was drawn.
Because of this high result, I had an MRI, which showed that everything is stable - no growth, which is great… but also nothing is shrinking. Because of all of this, my doctors told me they’re not overly concerned about the number right now, especially since it did drop and the MRI didn't show any growth or spread. So I’m trying my best not to worry either.
Recently, I was informed that both my Medicaid and food stamps were terminated because they suddenly decided my income is “too high,” which honestly feels unbelievable given my situation. I appealed, but was told there’s nothing they can do. I’ve also been applying to financial hardship programs through hospitals, and I’m currently waiting to hear back.
The PET scan I was supposed to have has been rescheduled again - now for April 9th. Before, I got sick (strep throat twice), I lost Medicaid, which meant my portion for the PET scan became $2,000… money I simply don’t have just to spend it all at once like this. I was able to find a private insurance plan for “low-income families” that will cover most of the cost - not all, but most. It’s a relief, but also another monthly bill to carry.
Because of your donations, I’ve been able to purchase a far-infrared sauna blanket and a near-infrared light panel that I can use daily at home instead of paying for sessions elsewhere. This will save me a lot of money, time, and energy. I’ve also been able to get several additional vitamin C IVs and restock supplements I had run out of. And honestly, some of the funds have helped me get through everyday life - bills, gas, groceries.
I’m so, so grateful for that support.
Right now, here are some of the things I still need:
• Additional testing (blood and stool) to better understand what’s going on in my body - why inflammation is so high and why I’m now experiencing severe bloating that I didn’t have before. Unfortunately, none of this is covered by my insurance.
• I switched to a medical clinic for my vitamin C IVs - they use higher-quality sourcing (not corn-based) and can administer higher doses. They also offer curcumin IVs, which I haven’t tried yet but were recommended for me. None of this is covered by insurance. All the testing and 5 curcumin IV sessions alone cost $3,600, which I had to put on a credit card (I’ve attached a screenshot). The vitamin C IVs will be an additional $1,500 for 5 sessions, which I haven’t been able to pay for yet.
• I need to pay a bill I just received after seeing one of my surgeons (screenshot attached).
• I have an ultrasound scheduled this Friday due to the bloating. After a discount (because I currently don’t have insurance), my portion is still $1,566.
I know I’ve been asking for help for a long time now.
But with everything going on - the tumors not shrinking, still not being a candidate for surgery, and constant setbacks - it’s been incredibly hard to stay strong. Some days, I can feel my strength and hope slipping, and I don’t always know what to do anymore.
If you’ve supported me in any way - financially, emotionally, or by simply sharing my story - thank you. Truly.
And if you feel called to continue helping, whether through a donation or by sharing this, it means more than I can put into words.
