Hey guys!

This winter God has blessed me above and beyond what I expected or deserve and called me to missions in Perú. As a student at the University of Texas at Arlington I’ve had the opportunity to live and share with gospel with international students almost daily. Though the desire to become a nurse drew me to UTA, a heart for the nations is what has kept me here. As a student leader in the Baptist Student Ministry I’ve had the opportunity to grow in my ability to share Jesus’ story of grace and I can’t wait to take those new skills overseas. As a student of both Nursing and Spanish I’ve been privileged enough to learn how to present the gospel in medical situations and even in another language! This semester has been busy beyond belief, but seeing God change the lives of students I love has been a constant reminder of the joy and rest we find in Him alone.

The Goal
This December I will be headed to Ventanilla, Perú to help a long-term missionary and her church with Christmas outreaches. We will be traveling to towns and villages near Lima to put on Christmas plays and engage people in gospel conversations. After the Christmas season has died down, I’ll get the chance to spend time with the church members and be a part of their weekly bible studies. My goal is to train the church members on some easy but specific ways to share Jesus’ story with their neighbors that can give the believers greater confidence in their role as ambassadors. In a country very much ruled by tradition, our responsibility is to introduce the people we meet to the reality that “it is by grace you have been saved, through faith” (Ephesians 2:8).

Your Partnership
More than anything else, I need you to pray for us. Pray that:
The people we speak to will have new ears to hear Jesus’ importance
I would be able to clearly articulate the gospel in Spanish and language would not be a boundary
The missionaries and churches in Perú would see change in their friends, neighbors, and families
Traveling to and from Lima would be safe
Would you pray about partnering with me? I’ve been asked to raise $1,500 by December 12th. If God leads you to give, you can give directly online at givesendgo.com/peru. You can also mail gifts directly to 1021 Chasemore Dr, Mansfield, TX 76063

Please pray that the people of Perú will experience the goodness of the Lord through Him sending me. “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing” Psalm 34:8-10

For His glory,

Just as I expected....
December 13, 2017, 9:42 pm

Just like I expected, I haven’t had time to write y’all this week. Ive been crazy busy, but it is such a joy to be done with school! I took my last final this morning and I’m ready to get outta here. My flight boards in just over an hour and it’s scheduled to leave at 10:15p. This time tomorrow I’m going to be in a very different place, hopefully making friends and speaking Spanish. I’m excited for the food, the people, the movement of the Holy Spirit, and to bring gifts to Lauren. I have no expectations, which is not what I’m used to, but I know Jesus moves powerfully in that. This hasn’t been an all-star semester for me and Jesus, but I know my lack of faith can never even begin to compare to His faithfulness. I’m sitting alone, listening to a new song my favorite band just released, wearing socks my friends bought me, eating candy my friends gave to me, and I have never felt more singularly blessed. God made us to be friends and He didn’t have to do that for us. He created us to depend on one another and point each other to Him. I am in awe of how my friends and family and strangers have pointed me to the gospel and I pray I can be an example of dependency in Jesus alone. We are nothing on our own and He loves us so much that he sent Jesus to be an example of wholesome relationship. I am grateful, to say the least. Be praying that the Holy Spirit moves in ways we’ve never seen before. Be praying that everyone you know can begin to comprehend our undeserving souls and how we live to lay at the feet of our loving savior.

Much much luv,
Claire

SOON!
December 1, 2017, 4:21 pm

Hey y’all!
I have my plane ticket, made a list of what I’m packing, found my passport (had a brief scare), and I’m almost fully funded! I’m only three assignments, four quizzes, two exams, and four finals from Perú! I am over the moon excited, but I have a lot to accomplish in the next 12 days and SOMETHING hours. Of the four girls living in my apartment, three of us are going overseas this winter break! Jane is going to East Asia with a group from UTA, Marissa is going home to see her parents who are missionaries in Indonesia, I get to go back to Perú, and sweet Paige is going home to Weatherford to serve with her church. It is so cool to share life with godly and like-minded women. These ladies are some of my favorite people in the universe. In the few days to come the grades I make can determine whether or not I get into nursing school (my dream). I’ll be studying at least six hours a day and praying I retain as much information as possible. My biggest and most important test is Monday the 11th at 1:30pm, after that it should be smooth sailing. As I look forward to finishing that test, I am doing everything I can to prepare for Perú. I will post again, probably from the airport, before I leave and I will try to post once a day while I’m in Perú. Feel free to follow this page for updates on what’s happening over there.
Please be praying that:

  • I work with excellence/peace and succeed on my tests
  • For funds to come so I can go without worry
  • For change and salvation in Perú
  • Rest for Lauren (the missionary I am staying with)
  • God’s will be done in mine and my roommates’ lives
Thank you for praying with me, blessing me, and being my partners in ministry. Jesus is the most important person who has ever lived and it is because of his perfect life, death on our behalf, and culture-crossing grace that we can praise Him today. I am praying your personal ministry will grow like crazy this winter. Please contact me if you have any questions about Jesus and why He plays such a big role in my life.
Much love,
Claire

The Beginning!!!
November 3, 2017, 12:48 am

Howdy everybody!

I'm going to do my best to post at least twice a week to update you on where the preparations for my trip are. My goal is to raise the financial and monetary support I need in only ONE MONTH (wild)!!! I am so excited for this opportunity to have a part in God's work in Perú. I've been talking with the missionary there (Lauren) to figure out what exactly the plan is and we have such similar personalities, I can't wait to spend more time together. I'm practicing my Spanish every day. I know I'm not even close to a native speaker, but I'm hoping to do 80% of the trip without anyone translating for me. I'm memorizing scripture and practicing a gospel sharing tool in Spanish so I'll be more prepared. The goal is to buy my plane ticket tomorrow. I'll keep you in the know, just keep following this page if you're interested even a little. The gallary section has a few pictures from my last trip to Peru in Summer 2016 (and one of just me in case some of you don't know me). Love you guys! I'm praying for you!

Catch yah on the flip,
