2:25 am 4/16/2026 the phone rings and the first thing I hear is "momma I just want you to know we're ok before you see on the news our apartment is gone" your heart stops, being 6hrs away and helpless. Both Chloe and Jackson serve the local area in ways most of you don't know. Newly married 3/27/2026 the day after Jackson took the oath to serve and protect with the local Durham police department. Chloe is a UNC alumni who fell in love with taking care of the local students while being on a work study program went back and became a chef and continues to work on campus serving dishes made with love to as she calls them "her kids". You see in my eyes they are still "kids" kids who have stepped up into roles serving the local area and now in their time of need I'm asking as a mother for that same love and selflessness. Yesterday was not only a day of loss for their belongings, but they also lost animals and those they didn't lose are fighting at NC State animal Hospital. One had to be put humanely to sleep after several hours of emergency care, but the smoke in elation was too extreme. Another is still being treated for severe smoking inhalation and one has no pads left on the bottom of his feet due to walking through the fire. With all their loss insurance will just only scratch the surface. Please if you find it in your hearts to donate or just keep them in your prayers as the days ahead are going to be extremely difficult this mother would greatly appreciate it.
