My 4-year-old granddaughter, Eevee, needs heart surgery. My son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Beth, will have to travel with her to the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital. They will have to stay a minimum of 10 days.

I am starting this campaign to help them financially with the out-of-pocket expenses they know they will have, but also for the expenses they might encounter because no one in our family has ever had to go through something like this before. I will tell you a little about their family. My son, Phillip, and daughter-in-law, Beth, grew up in the same small town together. They met when they were about 8 years old because we were neighbors. They used to play together with all the other neighborhood kids when they were young. I remember them building snowmen and sledding and then coming into the house for hot chocolate while I put their snow clothes in the dryer so they could go back out again. As they grew up, they started dating in high school and stayed together after high school. They have five children together. I look at these two, and I see a great mom and dad raising a typical small-town American family. My daughter-in-law was a stay-at-home mom for many years, but because of financial need, she did start working at the local school where my grandchildren attend. She chose to work at the local school so that she could have the summers off with the children. My son works full-time at a local community bank. They both work hard and do a great job taking care of their children, teaching them good manners, morals and how to be kind people when they grow up. I have included a picture of my son and daughter-in-law but out of respect for their wishes, I did not include a picture of the children.

They recently found out their youngest, my 4-year-old granddaughter, Eevee, needs heart surgery. Eevee is the most well-behaved little girl I have ever seen. She has had a quiet disposition since she was born. She was very much loved by her parents and her four brothers and sisters. She loves the Magic School Bus, singing along with it. Eevee was born on Valentine's Day. My little brother was also a Valentine's baby but was taken from us when he was only 15 in an accident. When Eevee was born, we had another Valentine's baby in the family; it was like a little hug from my little brother so many years later.

They will have to travel to the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital. The doctors say that she has a collapsed artery that needs to be corrected. My son has started selling anything he has of value to help with the out-of-pocket expenses, but it is not much. They also have a dog and will have to board the dog, Kota, for 10 days while they are gone. I will be there to help with the other children but I cannot financially help them with any travel expenses or boarding fees.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and all prayers are also welcome. My hope is that with this campaign, I can alleviate the financial worry for my son and his family so that they can focus on their Eevee and her recovery. Thank you in advance for your prayers and any other assistance. God bless!
