More time with my father

Give my father more time with his family

My family is still relatively young. We are my parents and their four children, my father has always been our family’s main provider.

In October 2024, our lives changed forever. After undergoing several medical examinations, my father was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. His medical report showed that the cancer had spread to the peritoneum and mediastinum.

Since then, my family has had to take on significant medical expenses. Relying solely on Peru’s public healthcare system would have involved long waiting periods, while beginning treatment as soon as possible was essential.

We still have so many moments and experiences that we hope to share with him. My youngest brother is still in elementary school. The next has recently started studying at a local university, another brother completed his university studies not long ago, and I—the oldest—have only been in the workforce for a little over a year and a half.

I have always dreamed of starting a family of my own and seeing my father and mother enjoy becoming grandparents. The possibility that my father may not be there for those moments causes me great pain.

I have even considered leaving my job so that I could stay home with him, keep him company, and spend more meaningful time together. However, after my father became ill, I became the only other person able to provide financial support for our family.

According to the attached medical summary (which is written in Spanish), my father received CAPOX and Bevacizumab as his first-line treatment. His second-line treatment consisted of FOLFIRI and Bevacizumab. His doctors have now recommended Regorafenib, following the ReDOS dose-escalation approach, as his third-line treatment.

We were able to manage the first two lines of treatment because our insurance covered part of the expenses. Unfortunately, this third line of treatment is not covered, and its cost has become a wall that our family cannot overcome alone.

Based on the quotations we have received locally, one cycle (one box of Regorafenib) costs approximately USD $4,836.67. He is expected to require three cycles, bringing the estimated total to USD $14,510.02.

We have explored every option available to us. A bank loan is difficult because our family is already paying a mortgage, my father’s medical condition limits our options, and I have only a short credit history. Even if we were approved, the amount available would likely not be enough to cover the first cycle, and the repayments would place an additional burden on our family.

My father has now gone more than six weeks without treatment because we have been unable to obtain Regorafenib. We are deeply worried and emotionally, financially exhausted. For this reason, I am humbly asking for your support.

Every donation, regardless of its size, will help us move closer to obtaining the treatment he needs. Sharing this campaign would also mean so much to our family.

I want my father to have more time with us. I want my younger brothers to continue growing up with his guidance. I want him to see the family he worked so hard to support move forward, and I hope that one day he and my mother will have the opportunity to enjoy being grandparents.

Your prayers are also sincerely appreciated—not only for my father, but for every family facing a similar illness. Should you be able to help us in another way, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for sharing it, for praying for us, and for any support you may be able to provide.
