This July, my sister Amber and I are planning to take a journey of faith to Israel with our church. This is specifically a mission’s trip for the high-school youth group, in which Amber and I both have been youth leaders for three years. Our hope and goal for this mission to Israel is to expose the high-schoolers to the world and make their faith come alive. For both Amber and I, this is our greatest hope for ourselves as well! By traveling to sites where Jesus walked and learning about the history experientially, it will be more enlightening than any book could ever teach us. There may not be many times in our lives where we will get to travel like this, so it is our hope to travel there this summer. Our Pastor has joked that going to Israel for two weeks will be the equivalent of going to seminary for a year! To have the ability to walk where Jesus walked, to visit the cities He traveled to, and to take in the Israeli culture is a longing of my heart. We will also have an opportunity when we are overseas to partner with the Christian youth in Jerusalem and connect and minister to fellow high schoolers there. We will be more focused on pouring into believers in Israel and building them up rather than evangelizing in the streets. It is important to encourage our fellow believers and that is our hope! Yet more than anything, we desire to experience the Bible come to life. For Amber and I, our faith is largest part of our lives. We long to serve the Lord and glorify Him in all areas of our lives. We pray that this opportunity would stretch and grow our faith immensely and to be able to do that alongside the high schoolers and our church family would be the biggest blessing of all.
YET, my greatest request of you is to partner with Amber and me in prayer. Please pray that we would raise the funds we need, that there would be unity within our team, that we would have safe travels both to Israel and within the country, and that we could be a blessing to our brothers and sisters over in Israel.
Lastly, Amber and I are praying that some of you will be able to support us financially. Our cost for this mission trip is $4,000 per person. Any size sponsorship would be greatly appreciated! The financial deadline is May 7th.
Most importantly, thank you everyone for partnering with us. We appreciate every single one of you. If you have any questions or would just like to chat, please email or call!
In efforts to not repeat everything my sister has just shared, I will try to expand on my own heart for the trip. After dedicating my life to the Lord in high school, (Merissa and) I got involved in a church that has had a huge impact in my life. I have grown closer with our Savior and gotten to experience the love of Christ through the relationships built in this church. And now serving in the high school youth group has probably blessed me more than I could ever give back to the ministry. This is such an opportunity to go to Israel alongside these high schoolers, to see their heart, and experience the bible come to life. Not that we have to go across the world to grow closer to the Lord, but I am so eager to walk where Jesus walked, see the places He has spoken about, and spend that time just continually seeking Him. Whether it would be this trip or later, it is heavy on my heart to see Israel and its culture. Lord willing this is the season where I able experience this history rich country. So I humbly ask for your help in prayer, or financially if that is on your heart.
Some prayer requests would be that Merissa and I would meet the funds we need, as well as the other 18 signed up for the mission, that Merissa and I would be able to pour in to the high schoolers as we walk along side of them, also that our group would be able to be a witness of Christ in the way we act and speak with one another as well as others in Israel, that He would provide opportunities while we are there learning more about Christ to share His gospel, and of course for safety as we travel.
I thank you for your time in reading this long message, and Merissa and I are welcome to discuss Israel further if you have more questions or want just talk about it. I thank you for your support in prayer, and I am grateful for any size of sponsorships. We appreciate your partnership in any capacity, and there are not enough "thank you"s, so I'll give just one more, thank you family!
