It’s my birthday today.

I’ve never been one to make a big deal out of birthdays. Honestly, I usually try to keep it pretty quiet. But today I’m reaching out because we’re in a place where we could really use some help.

I’m writing from a place of real need, but also trusting that God will continue to provide for our family and for the ministry He’s called us to.

Our family relies on three primary vehicles week to week, a commuter car for frequent trips to Grand Marais, a minivan for getting part of the family around, and our Chevy Express van for when we all need to go somewhere together.

Over the last couple of weeks, all three have taken hits.

A few weeks ago, while getting an alignment on our minivan, the mechanic told us the frame is dangerously compromised and we should begin looking to replace that vehicle as soon as finances allow. He strongly advised us not to take it on any long trips.

Earlier this week, our commuter car suddenly lost power while accelerating. We’re still waiting on a full diagnosis, (hopefully it’s just a sensor issue) but it’s currently out of commission.

And yesterday, on the way to Duluth, the transmission went out on our Express van, the only vehicle that fits our entire family.

To say this has been overwhelming would be an understatement.

Reliable transportation isn’t just a convenience for us, it’s essential for family life and for the ministry work we’re committed to each week.

We’re looking at several thousand dollars in repairs and replacement costs, and that’s not something we’re able to do on our own right now.

So, humbly, I’m asking, if the Lord leads you to help in any way, it would mean more than I can put into words. If you feel led to make a one-time birthday gift, it would go directly toward getting our vehicles back up and running.

It wasn’t easy to write this, in fact, it was extremely difficult… but we are immensely grateful for the people God has placed around us, and we trust Him in the middle of all of it.
