McClure Family Recovery

On March 14th, Sam and Emily were involved in a car accident that resulted in a total loss of Emily's vehicle. At the time, Emily was 19 weeks pregnant, so she was taken to the ER to check on baby Samson, along with treatment for her injuries. Since the accident, she has been off of work recovering, taking care of their children, and working through the insurance claims. Thankfully, they have been able to secure some coverage for Emily's medical expenses and time off work through the insurance claim.

Following the impact of the accident, Sam began experiencing increased severe pain along with progressive weakness and loss of strength due to a neck injury. After an MRI and follow-up appointments, we were told he needed urgent spinal surgery. That surgery was completed on April 16th, and we are hopeful his recovery will be quick, with only a short time off work, though his surgeon is warning him to advance activity with extreme caution.

With both of them being out of work and recent job changes leaving the family without health insurance, all of Sam's medical care has been self-paid. $10,000 has already come out of their pocket just for the surgical deposit, and additional medical bills with the remainder of the surgical fee and hospital stay are still coming in. Coverage for Sam's injuries from the accident and time off work are still pending approval, requiring further documentation and stipulations to be met.

From Sam and Emily: This is not something we would normally do, but after being asked and encouraged by so many friends and family members, we wanted to share a way for those who have reached out to help if they feel led to do so. We’ve had so many people reach out asking how they can help. Truthfully, this has been hard for us to accept, because it feels uncomfortable to receive what can feel like a handout. But we also recognize the love and support behind those offers, and we don’t want to turn away people who genuinely want to be there for our family during this time. If you feel led to give, we are incredibly grateful. If not, your prayers, encouragement, and support mean just as much to us.

Thank you for walking alongside our family through this.
