The Mabie family has been facing an incredibly difficult journey since October. Just days before Chris’s birthday, he began experiencing a series of headaches, followed by multiple strokes and several week-long hospital stays. Chris has been unable to work since the onset of his strokes, meaning he will be without his regular paycheck. While he has good insurance, not all medical costs are covered, and some new medications may result in additional out-of-pocket expenses.

After extensive testing in South Bend without answers, Chris was transferred by ambulance to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for specialized care, while Tanya traveled separately to be by his side. Tanya’s employer has been very supportive as she has taken time off to support Chris during this critical period.

Why $50,000?

A significant portion of this goal helps cover the cost of Chris’s ambulance transfer to the Mayo Clinic, which is estimated at approximately $35,000. Chris has been able to use accrued vacation and PTO while hospitalized, but he will have no income for an estimated three months before long-term disability benefits begin. The remaining funds will help offset this gap, along with ongoing expenses related to recovery, including continued therapies and monthly infusion treatments that are expected to be part of his care moving forward.

We created this fundraiser to help ease the financial strain so the family can focus on what matters most—Chris’s healing and recovery.
