"For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and self-control."
-2 Timothy 1:7
In July of 2017 I traveled to Port Au Prince, Haiti for the first time. I fell in love with the culture, and the light Jesus was shining among so much brokenness. I felt in my heart that I was called to spend more than just a week in Haiti.
My church had spent a few days at Have Faith Haiti which is an orphanage as well as a school. I loved the children there and what they needed as well as their hearts. I traveled back to Have Faith Haiti in January of 2018 by myself to see more of the school as I am a school teacher specializing in special education. It turns out that the school at Have Faith really needs a teacher specializing in special education. I loved my time at the school and they need a teacher with my background of education. The school offered me a position at the school.
I have always felt a call to missions on my life, so I will be taking a year off from my job at home in Shelby to move to Haiti for a year on June 29, 2018. I will be living at Have Faith Haiti and teaching at the school. I will be taking care of the kids who live at the mission, there are 50 of them, before and after school hours. I will be teaching at the school and offering individual support to students who are struggling academically.
The funds I am raising will be to support me for the year while I am away from a steady income of teaching in North Carolina.
I would be so grateful for any support that you could provide. It would mean that The Lord could use me in Port Au Prince, Haiti to be His hands and feet for the year.
"I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."
