Hey, friends! I've got some EXCITING NEWS!If we haven't met before, then hello!! My name is Lillabea Cochran and I'm just so happy that you're here on this page to read about where God is bringing me next!!
I'm going to be a part of something called the Circuit Riders Movement through a missions organization called YWAM (Youth with a Mission) starting October 1st of this year until late April of 2019. YWAM is known for its international missions and they've been impacting the entire globe for decades now through their efforts to reach people with the gospel while also responding to the physical, educational, and tangible needs of others all throughout the globe. They're just incredible from what I understand and it's an honor to work alongside such devoted servants of the Lord.
Circuit Riders is a little different than YWAM's normal missions because this one is all based in and focused on the USA. The goal is to train and teach about 150 young people for three months to develop skills that will then turn into teams of people that are equipped to set up and run two day breakouts on college campuses all over America! That's called the Carry the Love tour. It's the coolest thing too! They teach some about media, some worship/music, and others pastoral leadership to create content for the messages shared on the Carry the Love tour, while ALL participants are taking a discipleship training course together. Once the three months of learning is done from October to mid December, we head out to start the tour in January in teams of dozen or less, all merging the creative content we've each been working on for months in order to travel around America to reach an estimated 200 universities under the name Carry the Love!
Words taken from the Circuit Riders Movement website: "Carry the Love is a national university tour powered by the Circuit Riders that has gone to hundreds of universities and impacted thousands of students with a message of Jesus' radical love." They simplify it to this: "a campaign to inspire our generation to love like Jesus." (https://www.crmovement.com/)
I love all of this for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest is simply the fact that college campuses NEED love. I guess that's what all of humanity needs, but college campuses seem to have a special hold of my heart's attention right now. Colleges are filled to the top with young people who just want to live their lives for something great, something huge, something picture worthy, caption worthy, like worthy, blog worthy, share worthy, maybe even history books worthy. Millennials have a deep desire to be outstanding, one like I've never seen or heard of in any other generation. This is just a truth of our generation: our whole generation, we want really deep purpose. We all want something to give our lives to. In this, people are looking around everywhere for that purpose that they're going mad for. And, to put simply and brief, if they don't have this real, insane Love that Jesus gives us, this love that blows my mind and brings me to tears often, then empty thrills and darkness can slowly ruin lives. I mean, the stats on depression and anxiety and suicidal tendencies and different forms of self deprivation and hate are sky high right now and they're especially feasting on people in the high school/college age group. It horrifies me that Ole Miss doesn't allow stepping stools or ways to open their windows in certain dorms because of the amount of attempted and sometimes successful suicides that have been made by their students, that UGA only furnishes their dorms with desk chairs that rock in order to keep anyone from having a firm enough stance to strangle themselves from the ceiling, that GA Southern has huge poles with emergency hotlines built in all over their campus in order to protect students from rape or other violence...
I could go on and on, but it can be simplified to this: I, Lillabea Cochran, am passionate about the gospel, about this insane love that doesn't make any sense, yet changed my entire life and continues to be the only thing that gives me any reason to wake up day after day after day. I am passionate about media and the fact that we are designed to create as our Father, THE Creator of all lush and living things, so brilliantly designed us to exist with rich emotion and complexity that then has the capacity to drive us to art of many forms; I firmly believe that we are in an insanely powerful day and age where media can connect with and inspire people like the world has never been able to. I am passionate about people and believe with everything in me that every single human being should experience the freedom, purpose, and love that I have recieved.
In these passions for the gospel, media, and inviting every human I possibly can into the Kingdom of Heaven, I couldn't be more excited for Circuit Riders Movement, the community that'll come with it, and the opportunities to learn and carry love across our country!
In short, your donation will not only help cover my discipleship training school, media studies, housing, airfare fees, but it will undeniably make a difference in the lives of young people all over American college campuses. That gets me excited! Let's do this thing together!!
Thank you kindly for the time and attention it took for you to read these words and hear a bit of my heart for what God is currently getting me ready for next! It means the world to me. Sending love to you and yours <3
