The Heart of the Matter

My name is Joshua Duran. I’m running for County Commissioner in District 1 because I love this dirt. Rigby, Menan, Ririe, Lewisville—this isn't just a "district" to me; it’s home. I grew up here, I’m raising my family here, and I’ve spent my life working alongside you. I’ve fixed your trucks, slung grain for Reinke, and spent those long, hot hours in the cab hauling loads down County Line Road. I know exactly what it’s like to pray the roads stay open and the traffic stays moving when the harvest is on and every minute counts.

I’m a manager by trade and a leader by nature. To me, leadership isn't about having all the answers; it’s about recognizing talent and putting it to work. We have incredible minds in this county, including the men I’m running against.

​I believe in a county where we utilize every asset. Art DeRosa has a brilliant mind for engineering—exactly what we need to move past "band-aid" road repairs and start using "sutures" to fix our shifting, uneven riverbed roads once and for all. Danny Ferguson has a deep understanding of our water tables—the kind of expertise we need to ensure our aquifer is recharged and our water rights are protected from outside interests.

​Why I'm Stepping Up

I’m not running for a title or a seat at a fancy table. I’m running for the farmer who needs clear roads to move equipment. I’m running for the families who deserve growth that is affordable and smart—growth that doesn’t choke out our rural way of life. I’m running to protect our property rights and our freedom to live the Idaho way, without Boise or D.C. dictating our future.

I am not a career politician. I don’t have big-money donors or high-priced consultants. What I do have is a pickup truck, a willingness to listen, and a promise to show up.
