Things are still coming along about as quick as watching an oil painting dry. One more hoop we have to jump through is getting our homestudy approved by an Oregon adoption agency to make sure it meets the State of Oregon's requirements, since the adoption is taking place within their jurisdiction. We've contracted Holt International to do this for us but, as I'm sure you've guessed, this means more money has to be spent! We appreciate every prayer and every financial donation toward our adoption of Caleb. Thank you all so much for your support during such a time. It means more to us than you know!

As most of you know, we're adopting our nephew in what is known as a kinship adoption. Our 2 previous lawyers told us that we did not need a homestudy to their knowledge. However, since hiring my amazing new attorney (courtesy of the Baumer family-- thanks! ;-)) we have come to find out that our previous lawyers' assumptions were incorrect. In order for the homestudy to be waived he must be in our custody and living with us for an entire year since we have not had him since birth. Therefore, to get the adoption processed before June 2019, we will now be needing to do a homestudy. As many of you who've adopted know, this does not come with a small pricetag (especially in Louisiana). We've adjusted out total goal to account for the new added expense.
We thank all of you for your love and support through this process!
