My son, Jedidiah, is 14yrs old and has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disease that eats the proteins in the muscles until there is nothing left, then, attacks the major organs. The only way he can get around is with his wheelchair. I work for FedEx 40 to 50 hours a week with just enough finances to pay the everyday bills we have and the everyday medical supplies he needs. The chair he is in right now he has had since he was 8yrs old and has grown out of it. At the time he was on Medi-Cad and since the government with their “wisdom” has taken him off, we have no help with major medical expenses like a new wheelchair. The amount we need help with is just to upgrade the existing chair to modify for his growth. A brand new chair would cost $60,000.00 USD which is why we are not asking for that.
