Hello there, kind people. My name is Luke Minerva - I am a 20 year old kid reaching out to you with a heavy heart after my family has lost just about everything.

On the night Hurricane Helene made landfall, everything changed in an instant. In a matter of hours, the storm swept away not just a house, but a home—along with the car I used to travel to work, and every one of my cherished belongings. My family has insurance, but it won’t be anywhere near the amount we need to replace all that has been destroyed. The loss is overwhelming, and the path forward feels uncertain.

Picture in the video above is my cat Jovi, floating above the broken wreck that was once my home. During this catastrophe, he had leaped into the cold water and I was barely able to find and rescue him. He has suffered immensely from the stress of this night, becoming a nervous wreck. Where he once was greatly energetic and playful, he now mostly spends each day fatigued and scared. We’re worried as of late because he’s now been getting sicker and we don’t have the money right now to be able to take him to a Vet.

I created this campaign to help begin the difficult process of rebuilding from the little we have. Every piece of support—whether through donations, sharing this page, or kind words—means more than I can ever express. I hold deep gratitude for you simply taking the time to just read this.

Right now, the immediate needs include temporary housing, basic essentials, transportation, and funds to start replacing the everyday items that most of us take for granted. The goal is not to replace everything that was lost, because some things simply can’t be replaced—but to provide stability, safety, and a chance to move forward.

I am asking for $6000 because the money we received from insurance won’t be enough to replace the family car that me and my sister shared, and I need one to travel to my new job. From then on, I’ll be able to work enough to take my cat to the vet and focus on replacing all that I have lost. This entire experience has forced me to grow up quickly, and I want to do everything in my power to help out my family in these devastating times.
