I'm a 40 year old single mom /and a Grammy. I have 4 years in Recovery, successfully completed drug court 2 years ago and out of the 15 other clients I am the only one to stay sober, I practice complete abstinence from all substances. Three years ago I was diagnosed with cervical cancer, I followed the doctors recommendations and had a complete and total ( or so I thought) hysterectomy.

Recently I started having severe pain and was then told that over 56 percent of the cancerous cervical tissue was still there along with a ovary with masses located. I have pushed off surgery because I only get social security. I was lucky enough to be blessed by my landlord with a quit claim deed , mainly he just didn't wanna repair all of the things the city was going to make him repair.

Still I count it as a blessing.

I've signed up for the community grants that are supposed to help repair some of the facade on the outside of my house. Unfortunately I was notified my house was 1 block away from the proposed grants, I live here with my daughter who is 21 and recently left a very bad domestic situation and so most of my extra money has gone to help her with the attorney for her child custody.

She has 2 wonderful children a 17month old boy and 6 and a half month old daughter. She is currently trying to find employment but it's hard when you also need childcare. I help where I can but due to my health some days it's impossible. They are currently in the smaller bedroom of the house because it's the only one with flooring and safe enough for the kids.

I have gotten a few quotes about the roof and siding , which is absolutely unaffordable. I don't want my grandbabies to be stuck in a single small room all day but the living room floor needs a sheet of linoleum, and the paint needs to be updated as there are concerns with LEAD and seeing as how bub has already tested positive, I don't need anything fancy and a sheet of linoleum is about 137. I also have no furniture in my house except beds. So that makes it difficult for them to come out of there room. We have what you call asphalt shingling with possible asbestos so it's hard unless I take them all the way to back of lawn.

Recently the drop ceiling fell down in my room and exposed the lath and chimney. I'm not looking to raise thousands just enough to get some cheap furniture flooring and paint. It's hard for me to make some of the health decisions I need to make knowing that my daughter and grandkids are not comfortable and could be exposed to unsafe living conditions.

My daughter is such a good mom, which I'm so proud of because I was an addict most of her life. I also have two younger children both who reside with godparents because of my actions during my addiction and I would really like to be able to have them here more. I know this may be a long shot but I pray this reaches the right people. I just really want to have a home that we can enjoy and possibly feel ok enough to do this next surgery and have a place I can recover in.
