If you’re reading this, then that means you are interested in partnering with me to further spread the gospel and God’s kingdom in Costa Rica! And for that I am so so grateful! I am going to live in an orphanage in Atenas, Costa Rica for three months in order to serve and love children who have no permanent home. Hogar De Vida is a high functioning and reputable orphanage in Costa Rica that houses up to 35 children, providing them with a secure home, clothes, food, education and the chance to receive the gospel and Jesus’ love. There are three children’s home on the property. The first home houses infants, the second home houses toddlers, and the third home houses elementary school children. The children range in age from birth to ten years of age. Hogar de Vida, which means Home of Life, is a temporary home for the children, and the goal is to have the children be adopted into safe and healthy homes while giving them the care they need during their stay in the orphanage. The main reasons these “at-risk” children come to Hogar de Vida are for neglect, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse. I am so excited for the opportunity to live everyday with these children and better learn how to serve like Jesus serves.
I wanted to go to Hogar de Vida because I feel like God has given me great compassion and desire for children who are lacking love and identity in Him. I first went to live in an orphanage in 2015 when I went to Honduras for a month. I had an amazing experience and learned a lot about how Jesus puts great importance on his call to care for the least of these and fight for the poor:
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor an the oppressed.”
While there are many ways to uphold this cause (prayer, giving, sending), I have felt God opening doors for me to use my gap year before graduate school to obey him by physically going to Costa Rica to help care for these orphans. I am very thankful for anyone who wants to unite with me in this cause through prayer, encouragement, and/or financial support.
The plan: I will be leaving in mid November (exact date to be determined depending on flight prices) for Costa Rica, and I will be staying there for 90 days! The total cost I will need to fundraise is about $2,500. Please consider partnering with me in prayer and finances to further the kingdom of God for orphans in Costa Rica.
If you have any questions or want more information PLEASE feel free to contact me personally! Thank you all!
