In 2018, God placed Olivehurst on my heart.

It was a burden I could not shake—a calling to reach this community with the truth of God’s Word, the love of Jesus Christ, and the hope of the gospel.

In June 2019, my family and I stepped away from Calvary Chapel Yuba City in obedience to what we believed God was calling us to do. There was no formal sending structure, no guaranteed resources, and no clear roadmap—only faith that the Lord was leading us to Olivehurst.

So in July 2019, the first gatherings of Metanoia Community Church Olivehurst began in a park in Olivehurst.

There was no building, no stage, no sound system—just a Bible, worship, prayer, and a simple desire to faithfully teach God’s Word and love our community.

Then in September 2019, as the Lord continued confirming the call, we began setting up pop-up coffee, donuts, and prayer booths outside Dollar General, offering free coffee, a warm donut, and prayer to anyone in Olivehurst who needed encouragement.

Those moments became some of the earliest outreach expressions of Metanoia Community Church Olivehurst.

We prayed with hurting people in a parking lot.

We listened to families carrying heavy burdens.

We met people right where they were.

And God continued confirming that Olivehurst was where He was calling us to plant.

From there, the Lord opened a door for us to begin meeting at a community center inside a mobile home park, where seekers, neighbors, and people curious about Jesus began gathering to hear God’s Word.

We were able to meet there a few times before COVID changed everything.

Like many churches, we had to adapt quickly. We moved into our living room, where we continued preaching, worshiping, and live streaming services online so people could stay connected to the Word of God during one of the most difficult seasons many had ever faced.

Even in that season, God continued building His church.

On Easter Sunday 2020, we set up church on our home’s front lawn to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus—a beautiful reminder that even uncertainty cannot stop the gospel.

Then in September 2020, God opened the door for our first dedicated church location on Mary Avenue, where we began holding regular in-person services.

Through every season, we have seen God do amazing things:

1. people surrendering their lives to Christ
2. families being restored
3. believers being baptized
4. children learning God’s Word
5. teenagers finding a safe and loving church family

Then in 2023, the Lord led Metanoia Community Church Olivehurst into our current location on Dan Avenue, where we continue serving today.

This property has become far more than a church building.

It is now a ministry home for:

1. weekly worship gatherings
2. verse-by-verse Bible teaching
3. youth discipleship
4. community prayer outreach
5. Good News Clubs on three elementary school campuses
6. future ministry expansion

This current property also carries the future vision God has placed on our hearts:

A Future Youth Center

A dedicated place where students in Olivehurst and surrounding communities can find discipleship, mentorship, safety, and the life-changing love of Jesus Christ.

A Future Food Pantry

A place where struggling families can receive groceries, prayer, support, and the love of Christ in tangible ways.

Many of the students and children we serve do not come from church families. For some, this ministry is the first stable spiritual environment they have ever experienced.

This Dan Avenue property gives us the space to one day continue expanding ministry through both the youth center and food pantry alongside the main church building.

Today, however, our immediate need is to sustain this current ministry home on Dan Avenue.

The cost of remaining in this space has become overwhelming for our small congregation, yet this is the very place where worship happens, children are discipled, youth are reached, and Olivehurst families continue finding hope in Jesus.

This campaign is about sustaining the ministry God is already doing right now.

From a burden in 2018, to a step of faith in 2019, to a park, to prayer booths, to our living room, to church on our front lawn, to Mary Avenue, and now Dan Avenue—God has been faithful every step of the way.

We believe He is still writing this story.
