My mother has lost nearly everything in a very short period of time. Her home, much of her strength, and the independence she worked her whole life to maintain.

I am writing this as her daughter, and as the one now caring for her day to day.

Not long ago, my mother was living in her home in the desert, where she had her own space, her own routine, and the comfort of the life she had built over many years. That home was sold after promises were made that she would be taken care of and that her housing would be covered so she could remain safe and stable.

In the process of leaving that home, many of her belongings were discarded without much thought. She lost more than a house. She lost familiarity, comfort, and pieces of the life she had built for herself.

Since then, her health has declined rapidly.

My mother has uncontrolled diabetes and was recently hospitalized, followed by a two-month stay in a care facility. Since that stay, she has become dramatically weaker.

She struggles with mobility, needs walking assistance, and can no longer be left at home alone safely. She is also dealing with ongoing complications, including a UTI, that have made recovery even harder.

She has lost so much in such a short amount of time — her home, her strength, her routine, and much of her independence.

I am now her primary caregiver and the one helping her day to day, making sure she is safe, cared for, informed, and not left in the dark about decisions affecting her own life.

Right now, her housing and stability have become uncertain at the exact moment and she needs consistency the most.

I am doing everything I can to keep my mother safe, housed, and cared for while navigating her medical needs, her daily support, and the increasing cost of making sure she is not left without stability.

I am asking for help to keep my mother safe during one of the most vulnerable periods of her life.

Your support will help cover her housing, daily care, transportation, medical needs, and the immediate costs of keeping her in a safe and stable environment while I continue caring for her.

My mother has already lost too much.

I am doing everything I can to make sure she does not lose her safety, dignity, and peace too.
