Please Help Me Keep My Car, My Job, and My Ability to Care for My Son

I never imagined I would be in a position where I had to ask strangers for help, but today I'm setting my pride aside because I don't know what else to do.

My name is Josh, and I'm a father to an incredible autistic son. He is my entire world. Every decision I make is centered around making sure he is cared for, safe, and knows that his dad will always be there for him.

Because of his unique needs, working a traditional 9-to-5 job has been extremely difficult. Driving for Uber has been a blessing because it gives me the flexibility to earn a living while still being available for my son when he needs me most.

Then everything changed.

The air conditioning in my vehicle stopped working.

In the extreme heat, passengers understandably don't want to ride in a car without A/C. My ability to earn an income has almost disappeared. I don't have the money to repair the air conditioning because I can't work, and I can't work because I don't have air conditioning. It's a heartbreaking cycle that I can't seem to escape.

As the bills piled up, I fell behind on my car payments. Now my vehicle—the one thing that allows me to support my family—is at risk of being repossessed.

The thought of losing my car keeps me awake at night.

If my car is taken, I lose more than transportation. I lose my livelihood. I lose the ability to provide for my son. I lose the flexibility that allows me to be present for him when he needs his dad the most. It feels like everything I've worked so hard to hold together could disappear overnight.

I've always believed in working hard and finding a way through life's challenges. Asking for help is one of the hardest things I've ever done, but sometimes even the strongest people need a helping hand.

Your generosity will help me catch up on my overdue car payments, repair the air conditioning, and get back on the road so I can earn an honest living again. More than anything, it will help me continue being the father my son deserves.
