I’m usually the person making the donations whenever I can so I never thought I’d be in this position, but here I am.

I'm a mom to the most amazing son you can imagine. He’s sweet, caring, and God-fearing. He's been a straight A student at his Christian school every year. Even last year he was the only student in grades prek-12th to maintain all A’s for the entire year and this school has very challenging curriculum but it also has a strong Christian education foundation.

But as life often does, it threw me a curveball when I needed my insulin more than ever to manage my diabetes. For the first time since being diagnosed at just 15 years old, I’m having to pay out of pocket for insulin plus my other diabetic medications/supplies. It's not something I like to talk about much, but here we are.

I had saved up for months with plans to get my son a gaming computer and accessories he desperately wanted. But as life unfolded recently, in an instant, all the savings for his gaming set up vanished into the air. It broke my heart but I had no choice. I can’t even remember how long I sat in my car crying when I walked out of the pharmacy feeling defeated.

My son never asks for much; he's always grateful for everything we have and gifts he receives. But he’s been saying for years now that he hopes he can get a gaming computer, a chair and accessories some day like his friends and cousins.

I know times can be tough for many of us out there right now and others have a lot more to worry about than birthday presents but it would mean everything to me if anyone is willing to help no matter how small the donation is. Even just praying would mean the world to me right now.
