I never imagined I would be in a position where I needed to ask for help like this, but our situation has become urgent and we cannot do this alone anymore.

My partner has been diagnosed with two different types of cancer. He has already undergone major surgery, including the removal of his bladder, prostate, and lymph nodes, in hopes of stopping a rare and aggressive form of cancer. He has also gone through radiation therapy for lung cancer. On top of that, he is living with CHF and is now showing early signs of emphysema.

While my own health is not as fragile, our current living conditions are making both of us worse. Our home is filled with black mold caused by ongoing plumbing leaks that have never truly been fixed, despite multiple attempts. I’ve also recently learned that there is asbestos in the flooring. Every day, we are breathing in contaminants that are severely impacting our health.

We urgently need to move—no later than May or June—and start fresh in a safe, clean environment. Unfortunately, because of the contamination, we will also need to replace most, if not all, of our belongings.

I am asking for help to cover moving expenses and the basic necessities we will need to rebuild our lives. This is not easy to ask, but it is necessary. My goal is simple: to get my partner and myself into a safe place where we can begin to heal and get our health back on track.
