My wife Kate and I have been struggling to have children. We have been married for eight years now (going on 9) and just have not known what God's plan was when it came to growing our family. Recently, Kate and I both felt that God has been wanting us to grow our family and through our church, Fellowship of the Parks in Fort Worth, TX, God placed the right people in our lives to encourage us towards all of those children who are in the foster care system who are without parents.
It has been almost 2 years since we started thinking about doing foster care, but that time was spent in prayer and thought. We feel strongly now that God wants us to push forward. A couple months ago we started to take classes with CK Family Services in order to become a Treatment Foster Care home. Treatment Foster Care deals with all the children who are in Residential Treatment Centers and Psychiatric Hospitals. These facilities are not equipped to help these children achieve emotional and behavioral stability, so Kate and I would take children such as these under our care, and in our home, and show them the type of love only found in a loving family.
Due to the high level of care most of these children need, the standards as Treatment Foster Care Parents are higher, as are the standards for the home. Kate and I need some things done around the house, that right now we need help with. We need a gate that separates the back and front yards, clothes for varying age groups, and many other items (including a larger dinner table), and we are asking friends, family, and others led by God to contribute to our needs. All funds will ONLY be used for the children's care and not for Kate and I. Any money that is left over will go directly to help buy Foster Children (throughout the state of Texas) Christmas presents and Birthday presents. Most Foster Children do not receive either, and your gift will greatly improve there moral and help them to realize that their life means something, and that they are loved. Diego Fuller is the youth pastor at Fellowship of the Parks, a friend, and also a former foster child who has opened his heart for quite some time to help other foster children. Please look up what he has done in changing the lives of foster children around the US with his music and message. Kate and I are looking forward for the opportunity God has given to us in helping reach every foster child with a present for Christmas.
Please pray. Above all, we need your prayers, for us and for those children without parents. Pray what donation (if any) God is compelling you to give. We love you and we are so excited to be able to show our love in a practical way to children who have been through so much trauma. Thank you and God bless!
