As the founder of GoScriptures, I understand both the promise of an online community and the concerns associated with modern platforms. I deeply desire a place where our spirits are uplifted through participation - where we can ask difficult questions, share affirming experiences, and study scripture together. A place where uplifting content can be shared with family, friends, and others around the world. A place where we can openly claim that we walk in the light of our faith and support each other along our journey.

I found no such place, so we built one.

GoScriptures exists to provide a safe, private, thoughtfully designed online community that brings people together across geography, beliefs, and backgrounds to explore faith, share experiences, and uplift one another.

We believe spiritual growth is strengthened through connection - by discussing scripture, sharing moments of inspiration and struggle, supporting each other, learning from each other, and discovering together what it means to live in the light of faith.

Rooted in a love for the Gospel, we welcome people of all walks of life and religious affiliations. Our hope is that every person who joins will feel the hand of God in their life on a daily basis and will find a place to learn, grow, and walk together in the light.

GoScriptures is a community of friends and spiritually based followers who can be inspired daily through videos, inspirational music, or lectures. This site is a learning tool for Bible study. The content is not confrontational, but rather invites us to gain further knowledge and devotion to the Lord. It allows me to feel closer to the Lord and to better understand what He is asking of me. To date, we have developed a full-featured platform built around two core experiences: discussions and challenges. Discussions enable thoughtful, faith-centered conversation. Challenges invite people to engage together through scripture reading, acts of kindness, and shared reflection. Through the GoScriptures Explorer, users also find daily and weekly content to enjoy, reflect upon, and share.

Significant time and energy in the form of sweat equity have gone into GoScriptures, along with substantial out-of-pocket costs for software licensing, subscriptions, and cloud hosting. The founder, Tom, has personally covered these expenses to date, choosing this path so the core mission would not be deflected or compromised.

The requested funds will be used for cloud hosting, one to two part-time college students to help create usage videos and outreach content, and modest promotion through social and print media. Funds may also support refining the user experience and broadening spiritual content to better serve a wider range of faith backgrounds.

These funds will not be used to compensate the core development team. The team will continue contributing through sweat equity while we expand the platform with improvements such as public audiences, adult-controlled minor accounts for families, and richer content experiences that invite daily engagement.

Lastly, our hope in launching this campaign is not merely financial. We seek affirmation - to know that others feel, as we do, that platforms like GoScriptures matter, and that there are people who share a desire for a thoughtful, faith-centered online community.

GoScriptures is committed to providing a private and protected experience. User data does not leave our system, and we do not introduce external data sources intended to influence behavior. We do not sell data, build psychological profiles, or display advertising - overt or disguised.

Our goal is to offer a space where people can participate freely and confidently, knowing their privacy is preserved and their experience is guided by faith and intention, rather than algorithms or commercial interests.

Tom has over 30 years of experience in large-scale systems development. He is a hands-on developer and leader in systems integration. Tom has also served as a teen and adult Sunday School teacher and currently serves in the Sunday School Presidency in his ward.

Michael is a senior software architect and engineer with over 30 years of experience designing and building parallel and distributed systems. His work has focused on large-scale platforms capable of supporting internet-level demand with strong emphasis on security and reliability, including serving as a member of Microsoft’s distributed systems group. Michael’s involvement in the project has also been personally meaningful, inspired in part by a promise he made to his late mother, a Christian minister, to help bring this work to life.

Devon is a software engineer with over 25 years of experience delivering innovative software solutions across a broad spectrum of industries. Outside of his professional work, Devon serves his community as a Scoutmaster for his local troop.

It is important to briefly convey the technical philosophy behind GoScriptures. Too often, startups rely on rapid prototyping technologies to demonstrate a concept, only to struggle later when attempting to rebuild on scalable architectures.

From the beginning, we have emphasized a modern design approach for GoScriptures. The platform is built as a cloud-native, containerized system and is deployed using automated build and release pipelines. It includes end-to-end observability and scalability to support a private, secure, and responsive experience for our users.

We remain committed to continuously evolving the underlying technology to ensure we maintain the highest integrity of the platform.
