Emergency Help

My name is Steve Spencer. I’m 65 years old and I'm blind. I lost my eyesight in 2010 due to diabetes. I am married, and my wife helps take care of me. My wife’s name is Shannon, and she is 63. On December 6, 2018, Shannon’s daughter died. One year later, Shannon’s dad passed on December 16, 2019. Now, we have two granddaughters we are raising, one is 16, the other is 18, and both are still in school. Lately, it's been a big struggle raising these girls, getting school supplies, sports equipment, and other supplies they need on the income my wife and I have now. Shannon was working up until 2023 when the business closed down. Even then, Shannon was beginning to have health problems with her feet, her hip, arthritis in her hands and she has COPD. She has filed for disability, but it hasn’t started yet. We are doing all we can but the bills are all overdue. The rent is paid, but that’s about it. We get our food stamps and go to the pantries here in town. We have requested assistance with our electric bill, but if we don’t receive help before the 23rd, the electricity will be turned off. Our cars all need inspection stickers, and all check engine lights are on. We have borrowed money from family and friends, but everyone is all borrowed out and can no longer help. To top it all off, Shannon’s mom has been in the hospital for the last 17 days, and it’s not looking too good, so she spends most of the day with her mom, giving her all the support she can. When it rains, it pours, and it is raining hard these days. So we are asking for help to keep our heads above water and maybe a little more to keep us afloat until Shannon’s check comes through.
