I'm Lisa the founder of Fresh Start Community Services Inc., and today I want to share a story about hope, dignity, that led me to launch an incredible initiative: The Mobile Shower Program. It all began when I met Alex, a vibrant soul who had fallen on tough times but still carried the hope in his eyes. During one of my outreach with homeless in Greater Hartford, I noticed how many were struggling to maintain basic hygiene due to limited access to facilities like showers and bathrooms. It was heartbreaking to hear how they are denied use of public bathrooms just trying to refresh and wash their bodies and bags of dirty clothes that had a horrible odet due to no access to laundry services I knew we had to do something, That’s when it clicked: a shower might seem small, but for many struggling with homelessness, it's huge! It means confidence and dignity—the chance to feel clean, ready for anything, and proud of themselves. So here we are, launching the Mobile Shower Program in Greater Hartford. We aim to provide these essential services right where they’re needed most: out on the streets, at shelters, wherever those experiencing homelessness gather. Each shower is more than just a cleanup; it's about restoring hope and reclaiming lives one person at a time. But we need your help!
