We, Jose Luis and Carol Ivette Granados, are starting a family ministry after many years of trials. We where both missionaries for about 8-10 years before we meet and got married. Many people told us to not start a family until we had all the financial needs covered (because they knew we have been missionaries.) We were also told that now it was our time to live and enjoy each other before having kids since children take away your liberty, time and effort.
Of course, we left it up to GOD. Thank God, He blessed us with the sacrament of marriage when we both were 33 years old. Then, God gave us the greatest gift a year later: our first child. Within the following 8 years, we had 7 kids which 2 of them are already in heaven. In those years many challenges came in our way: my husband health situation ( seizures started to happen again-
Epilepsy - which we have been told has no cure but we believe in miracles... we know God can heal him whenever He knows best.) Then, we experienced lost of job (due to this challenge, we lost our condominium...) when I was pregnant with my fifth child. Now, we see the Blessing of all of it as it has brought us to start our own home business, to homeschool, to be much more closer as a family and putting prayer as the center of our marriage and family, to truly put all our Hope in the Lord.
In our Missionary years, we were giving so much by God (it just can't be transmitted in words). We have also seen and experienced how the world, culture and the enemy is attacking the family... the need to form and help families.
Isn’t awkward?: How many years do we take to have our BA or any education degrees? How much do we worry about our kids having a good education so they can go to a great college and get a good job, to be "successful"...? but how many years do we take preparing ourselves to become a successful Father or Mother or in forming our family to the level God expects from us? definitely, it not the same.
God has not and will never give up on us... we do not understand why he is asking us to do this ministry when they are more people qualify than us, but we know he is the one who wants it and He will take care of it. As we have been praying, developing and working very hard for the family ministry to go forward a friend said to us, "just be careful as it will not be easy because you know who does not want this". I was so sure all will go smooth as it is God plan not ours, even thought we felt the great weight in our shoulders. After a few days this was said to us and were able to set a meeting with the Bishop, we got in a very bad car accident where we lost our only car, my husband had two bad seizures (took about a month for him to be himself again), I started having some nerve attacks... Through the mercy of God, some families came to our rescue and helped us out. With out them we will not be here. It is amazing what a family can do for another family. One major thing we learned out of this situation was to continue with God's plan as families helping families and this should be a must within our ministry. Just as the early Christians were known by their charity. One of this ministry's goal is to fund for families in need, to adopt families (not only financially).
Please look at the website we have started for this ministry. There is still lots of work to be done on the webpage... it is not finished yet (domain name, etc.)... Our goal is to make this ministry a non-profit organization (it takes about a year), to make it available to as many families as possible, we are working on the family conferences/ workshops, clubs, the first family event, marketing... and for families not to pay to much for the services so everyone can come.
At this moment we need about $6500 dollars in order to continue and launch it by December or January with a family event. We already started with baby steps with the summer camps and boys clubs. The goal is to have the family institute where all the members of the family receive the same formation, have family activities that will unite the families.
We will be giving a workshop between Thanksgiving and Christmas regarding the art of a happy and united family.
If you could please help us with any donations to make this ministry possible to reach as many families as possible. We truly appreciate it and we know many families will benefit from it.
Thank you very much and may God bless you!
