First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this.
As some of you know, we are back in Italy. It’s been quite a process, but God has been faithful through it all, revealing and confirming every step.
After almost two years in Denver, we moved to North Idaho last November. All doors seemed closed as far as jobs go, yet we met some incredible people and made good friends in a short period of time. As we were praying for direction, I (Marcelo) got a call from my parents in February asking if I could give one month to lead the final projects of the church’s new facility (some of you personally gave to this project). As my return date was approaching, we felt God was leading me to stay and have Elise and the girls join me for the summer. Shortly after we made this decision, my dad had a mini stroke (what a scary moment). He has fully recovered but this ordeal was a clear and quick confirmation that God was asking us to stay. We know God’s plans for us in Italy are not over!
We strongly feel God prompting us to stay as there is much to do here! Less than 1% of Italians are Protestant/Evangelical Christians and even if 74.4% of the population declares itself as Catholic Christians, only 25.4% say they attend church. The non-religious percentage is standing at 22.6%. The harvest is plentiful, and we are excited and humbled for this opportunity. We are motivated and determined to see God’s Kingdom flourish in Italy. Our primary work here in Italy is 4-fold:
- We will be working to finish construction on the new building.
- We will establish vision and define leadership roles for the church.
- We will continue to preach, lead music, and contribute to other ministries.
- We will begin working out the realization of dreams and visions God has given us for his church in this part of the world.
In the meantime, to make all of this happen we need to raise support as we feel called to work full-time in the ministry. The first kind of support we are looking for is spiritual—people who can pray and intercede with us for the Sicilian and Italian people. Prayer is the fuel that will allow us to accomplish the work here. Secondly, we will be raising money in two phases: (1) relocating funds to get us started here, and (2) monthly support (we are currently establishing partnership with a missions organization).
Would you be willing to prayerfully consider making a one-time financial gift to enable our family to fully relocate to Italy? It would be an honor for us to link arms together to reach the Sicilian people. Our relocation need is $12,500 and the deadline for this phase is October 31st (we have extanded the deadline).
We will send a second letter soon with further details on the ministry here and long-term ways to partner with us in reaching Sicily for Jesus.
We cannot express how much we appreciate your consideration of us. And most especially your prayers for us!
