In February, my daughter, Samantha, and I are headed to El Salvador on our very first mission trip with our church, Crossway Christian Church of Nashua, NH. We are super excited to be able to take this trip. We will be headed to the Abelines region of El Salvador which is comprised of 11 remote villages in the mountainous northeastern part of El Salvador. Most homes in this area are headed by women, the average resident has a third-grade education and is involved in small-scale agriculture which provides food for the household and sometimes a small amount left over to sell. Most live on less than one dollar per day and are subsistence farmers who rent or own less than five acres of land for the production of traditional crops (corn and beans.)
We will be working with a group called ENLACE. Since 1993, ENLACE (pronounced en-lah-say, the Spanish word for “link”) has been equipping church and community leaders to identify, design and manage sustainable initiatives in El Salvador. ENLACE’s projects include water systems, micro-loans, preventative health education, health clinics, new homes, sanitation facilities, agriculture development, and many more sustainable projects. ENLACE commits to a 10 year relationship with local churches in El Salvador. ENLACE equips church leaders to become effective agents of change as they understand who they are as a body of believers, listen to their community, and respond to opportunities for developing sustainable solutions for poverty. This engagement in the community builds bridges through which the love of Christ can be extended.
The cost of the trip is around $1,600 per person. I am asking if you would be willing to partner with me and Samantha. If you choose not to donate, please pray for us as we take our trip. Thank you in advance and God Bless!
