It is currently my third week in Thailand. I ended up getting to Thailand a week later than I had planned due to VISA delays. Despite the change in plans and the extra expenses due to that, I still made it and the extra trouble was worth it! My first week I spent time with the other interns, moved into an apartment, and started work at the IJM office. So far, I have been learning different tasks in the office and how the office runs. I have also attended a forum with my department on the Royal Thai government's new laws addressing forced labor as well as assisted in Bangkok's first Freedom Sunday.
These past three weeks have been filled with joy, fear, uncertainity, and plenty of learning. I am adjsuting more to being in a completely different community and in a country where I do not speak the language (although I plan to learn the language). I am already sounded by amazing people from the office as well as from local churches.
Please continue praying for the office to find more cases and for courage in the victims to speak out against their abusers. Also pray for my continued adjsutment as I continue establishing a community and routine here.
Your support in words of encouragement, donations, and prayer are all so appreciated and mean so much to me.
