My name is Johnathan Williams, and asking for help does not come easily for me. I have always worked, served my community, and leaned on my faith to carry me through life’s challenges. Today, I am in a season where I can no longer carry this burden alone. 

In 2016, my life changed forever. A truck driver lost control of his vehicle and struck me from behind, pinning me inside and severely damaging my leg. What followed was a nightmare I am still living with today. While hospitalized, I contracted a staph infection that turned septic and attacked my femur and tibia. Since then, I have endured eight major surgeries. 

My most recent surgery permanently fused my leg. A rod now runs from my hip to my ankle, and I will never bend my leg again. I now require a motorized wheelchair permanently, and I continue to suffer complications that require frequent emergency room visits, medications, and additional procedures. 

As if my medical battle were not enough, tragedy struck my family again and again. 

In 2019, my son, Davion, was murdered. While justice was eventually served, the years-long trial took a devastating emotional and financial toll on my family. In the years that followed, I also lost my mother, my father, and my stepfather. I bore the majority of the financial costs for these losses while still trying to survive my own medical crisis. 

Today, I am facing realities I never imagined. I am under constant threat of eviction, having utilities shut off, and not knowing where my next meal will come from. I require multiple medications just to prevent life-threatening infections. The motorized wheelchair I desperately need is simply beyond my financial reach. 

I am a believer in Jesus Christ, and my faith has carried me this far — but faith does not eliminate practical needs. Right now, I need help.
