Hi, we are The Saldanha Family from Saldanha, South Africa - a small coastal town 2 hours north of Cape Town. Married with 2 children.

We’re reaching out during a tough season. My husband is self-employed Consultant in Human Resources & Industrial Relations, working on contracts. For the past 2 months the contracts have dried up, so we’ve had no income coming in.

I’m also job hunting daily for anything - retail, cleaning, admin, anything - but jobs are scarce right now.

Our first-born daughter is in 1st year at University studying Geography & Environmental Sciences. Our 14-year-old son was recently diagnosed with dyslexia and started at a special needs high school. He’s bright, hardworking, speaks English well and copies/rewrites perfectly, but struggles to build sentences on his own due to dyslexia.

Our situation right now:

My son’s Child Support Grant ≈ R 580 + small help from relatives. That’s all we have for rent and food. We’re both applying for jobs/contracts every day.

Our goal is R4900 for 2 months

This will bridge us while we job hunt.

Rent ≈ R1400x 2 months to keep a roof over our heads Food & groceries ≈ R1800 per month for our family of 4

Transport ≈ R300 - For interviews, job application and school meetings

Our plan:

This is temporary bridge support. My husband has the skills and experience he just needs the next contract. I’m actively looking for any work to bring income in. Your help gives us breathing room so our son can focus on school and our daughter can stay at university without us worrying about basics at home.
