At 95 years old, our grandmother should be spending her days surrounded by family, sharing stories, enjoying visits from loved ones, and living in the comfort and security that every person deserves after a long life.

Instead, the past year has brought more change than anyone should have to face at her age.

Not long ago, Grandma lost her husband—the man she shared her life with for over 7 decades. Together they built a home, a family, and a lifetime of memories. Then, after his passing, she was faced with an impossible decision: stay behind and struggle alone, or leave everything she knew to be closer to family.

She chose family.

To make the move from Iowa to Utah possible, Grandma had to sell nearly everything she owned.

Furniture that had been in her home for years.

Keepsakes collected over a lifetime.

Possessions filled with memories of the life she shared with her husband.

At 95 years old, she packed up what was left of her world and started over.

No one should have to do that.

Our family is doing everything we can to give her what she deserves: a place where she feels safe, loved, welcomed, and at home.

Unfortunately, our home does not currently have the space needed for Grandma to move in with us. We have a plan that will allow us to create the room she needs, but it requires significant renovations, utility work, permits, construction, and property improvements.

Our initial fundraising goal is $25,000, which is the minimum amount needed to begin and complete the most critical portions of the project. Because of rising construction costs and the uncertainty of renovation expenses, the final amount needed may be significantly higher. Any funds raised beyond our goal will go directly toward completing the project and ensuring Grandma has a safe and comfortable place to live.

We are investing everything we can into making this happen ourselves.

But we can't do it alone.

What makes this difficult is knowing that time is precious.

At 95 years old, every month matters.

Every holiday matters.

Every family dinner matters.

Every birthday matters.

The sooner we can complete these renovations, the sooner Grandma can move into a permanent home surrounded by the people who love her most.

We cannot give her back the husband she lost.

We cannot replace the home she left behind.

We cannot bring back the possessions she had to sell.

But we can give her a room of her own.

A place at the table.

A home filled with family.

A place where she never has to wonder whether she belongs.
