This sweet girl was wandering around Young Ranch and surrounding neighborhoods in Katy, Tx for about a week or so. She clearly has had puppies not too long ago but no puppies were found in the area she was staying in. She consistently returned to the same spot every night which was either in the median near a small bush or the black mulch near a 4 way stop sign. We can only assume that is the last place she saw her owners. It was likely the place she was left behind. Neighbors in the community came out daily to give her food and water and worked so hard to gain her trust. It took a little salmon and chicken to eventually get her safely trapped. She is now resting comfortably and will have a few days to decompress away from the busy road and the cold nights. This blue eyed girl is going to need to be taken to the vet to make sure she is healthy, vaccines, and likely spade. I would appreciate any help we can get to off set the costs. Once she is healthy and feeling better we will be looking for a great home for her. She definitely deserves it after all she has been through. Thank you to all who have helped and to those who will. I have included a few pictures but I will add more as she feels better and I can some of her stunning eyes.
Update #10 Happy Saturday January 28, 2023
Nova is enjoying this rainy day with a little basic commands training by my daughter. Nova is treat motivated so she was digging the ham my daughter used to teach her "Sit" and "Leave It" commands. She picked it up very fast, definitely a smart girl. She has not had any accidents in the house. We take her out 3 times a day and she seems to understand that is where she is supposed to go. No accidents in her crate at night. She doesn't love going in the crate but once in there she is a quiet girl. No fussing or crying at all. Walking on a leash is still a little foreign to her so this will need a little more time. Overall she is still doing great!
Update #9 We have named her NOVA January 28, 2023
I forgot to mention that we have named this sweet girl Nova. I thought the name was fitting because in Latin it means NEW. I think we can all hope that this next phase of her life is going to be new and beautiful. It also is an astronomic term given to bright stars that appear suddenly in the sky and release powerful energy. The day we came up with her name she made huge progress in her trusting us. This was the day she trusted me to rub her belly and the day she asked me for affection by standing up on her hind legs asking for some love.
Update #8 Here is the estimate for her spay January 28, 2023
Raised the Donation Goal January 28, 2023
I needed to raise the donation goal to $750 that is what it will cost to cover her vetting, meds, treatment and her spay. It is so important to get her spayed for her overall health and so the family that eventually is blessed to have her join them will not have to worry about any potential future puppies. Her little body has done enough in the puppy making department. Her fecal results came back with both hook and whip worms. Since she has been in our home and around my pups they all had to have treatment to stop the cycle of the worms. Hopefully after the worms are all cleared up I will get to see a little more of her personality. Those nasty worms can make them not feel their best. She is such a calm dog. The vet could not believe how unbothered she was with being inspected. Nova also is not very interested in my dogs. She is very indifferent to them which is great. I have included today vet bill with her pre-op bloodwork and the worm medicine. I have not included the extra flea and worm meds I have had to give my own dogs (3 of them) just to prevent them from catching anything. Thank you again for helping her and me LOL!!!
Next Up: Getting Spayed January 26, 2023
We have an appointment tomorrow for her pre op bloodwork and then we can schedule her spaying surgery. The total cost will be a little over $400. Your donations are helping out so thank you!
Fresh from the Vet January 25, 2023
Well good news is she seems overall healthy. We did the full vaccines, testing for parasites and worms, heart worm was negative, and got flea treatment for her since she had them and a preventive for my dogs just in case. The vet said it has been months since she was nursing because she was dry. She will definitely need to be spayed because she has had enough babies. I am organizing with the vet the best time to do this before her next heat cycle or we have to wait a few months after it. I would like to take care of it before then. It is very likely based on the timing of her last litter that her heat cycle will be here soon. I uploaded the receipt from todays visit. I appreciate the donations because it really helped. One of my own dogs just got his results back today of a biopsy and it's a cancerous tumor. We were fortunate the vet had a cancellation so he goes in for surgery tomorrow to remove it.. I would love some prayer my little guy Rex he is a special guy! The vet is hoping they can remove it and all the cells. I'll post a picture of him so you have a face with a name. As sad as I am to get the news about Rex I am equally grateful to see the progress this sweet girl has made in such a short time. She gave me her belly to rub today. That is pretty precious. Thank you all again!
Update #4 January 24, 2023
Got her a new collar and harness. When she starts getting scared she pancakes flat so this will help us when we are trying to walk her by lifting her up and helping her have a little more confidence.
Update #3 January 24, 2023
She has rested up and now getting pampered. We definitely have a case of fleas so it's bathe time and some flea prevention.
Update #2 January 24, 2023
She has been catching up on her beauty sleep. Her demeanor is gentle and wants to be invisible at the current moment. I’m definitely going to cry when I see her tail wag. It’s going to be a journey to gain her trust but it will be so worth it!
