Several people have reached out to me asking if they could help with River, so I am creating this

River came from a hoarding situation, and as a result of the severe neglect during the first year of his life, his teeth are in terrible condition. He’s only two and a half years old, but the damage is significant enough that the vets believe he is living in excruciating pain every single day.

To help keep him comfortable, we’ve been giving him gabapentin, and the change in him has been incredible. This medication has given River a glimpse of what it feels like to live without constant pain. The skittish, withdrawn kitty who used to hide is suddenly more relaxed, even affectionate. He seeks out attention, comes closer, and seems genuinely grateful for the relief. It breaks my heart to think that pain has been holding him back from being the happy, loving cat he truly is.

River now needs oral surgery to remove the damaged teeth and finally give him a pain-free life. I’ve attached the vet estimate below, which comes to $1,700 and change for the procedure.
