Penitas Community Food Pantry needs your help. Our existing building, which we have outgrown, is deteriorating beyond repair. This was an old 2 room house donated over 25 years ago and has deteriorated to the point the floor is about to fall through. We don't even have a restroom and have to go next door to the church. We also received damage from hurricane Hannah 2 years ago and have not been able to make necessary repairs.
We operate strictly on donations and all staff are volunteer. We have set a fundraising goal of $50,000 to erect a simple 30' x 60' building on a concrete slab foundation (with restroom). If you or someone you know can donate money, materials or labor, please contact us and let us know.

Update #2 July 11, 2022
Plan A of our project of replacing our deteriorating building has hit a roadblock. We had submitted an application for Mueller Builgings' Helping Hand giveaway has been awarded to another well deserving non-profit. This leads us to Plan B, erecting the building from scratch. Unfortunately this forces us to increase our goal to $75,000.
On the positive side we have raised $32,000 plus another firm pledge of $5,000. We still need your help to finish this project. One friend of the food pantry is working to get the walk-in cooler/freezer donated. If you are considering a donation please pray about it and follow God's lead. Please consider getting a group of friends, co-workers, church group, etc. together to star a fundraising effort.
Don't want to help fund a building? We have ongoing needs to help feed hungry people. We operate 100% on donations and volunteers. We have no paid staff and the facilities including utilities are provided by Penitas Baptist Church so 100 % of your donation goes directly to feeding people.

As of 6/10/2022 We have received $17,000 from all fundraising efforts. Praise God!
Penitas, TX is located in Hidalgo County, one of the most impoverished areas in the country. Penitas Baptist Church is a very small church but still operates the food pantry for many years on donations and volunteerism only. We serve 200 - 250 families monthly which is about 700 individuals providing food and spiritual support.
Our facility is literally falling apart and with increasing need for food we need more room. We need your help to pay for foundation/slab, plumbing, electrical, walk-in cooler and freezer, heating and cooling, building materials, roofing, siding, lighting, doors, windows, shelving, pallet jack, etc.
