Many friends and family have been asking me to start a "gofundme" and I have been putting it off until we knew more what our hospital bills would look like but things have changed and taken another hard turn.....
The story began on mother's day when Nina and I woke up suddenly at 7am to Nina's water broken at 23 weeks along in her pregnancy, we rushed to the hospital and they admitted her and over the next 2 weeks they monitored her constantly to make sure that her and the baby were doing okay. At exactly 25 weeks and 3 days into the pregnancy, Aravis decided it was time to come into this world and the hospital staff rushed Nina into a C-section.
Aravis was born under 2 lbs and has been in NICU now for almost 3 weeks. She has had very MINOR ups and downs, while Nina very much has been struggling in her recovery of what is one of the worst infections the hospital staff has seen post c-section mostly due to her not having amniotic fluid for 2 weeks. So Nina was bed-ridden for over a month and has been a trooper as we both pray and fight for Aravis's life.
Much more could be said about complications that happened but overall we stand on the word of 1 Peter 1:6-7 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. We are asking the Lord to accept our weak faith and praise and the Parish family along with the Stalder family say GOD IS GOOD!
Then amidst all of this, the unthinkable happened....
Rebekah Stalder my sister-in-law and 3rd born in Nina's family decided to take her own life yesterday on June 18th 2019. She had seemed normal and fine all day and more than that she had struggled with depression off and on in her life and she seemed MORE THAN FINE the past weeks and months. Excitededly telling us about an upcoming wedding, she showed us her wedding ring just days ago and texted with Nina and Jessica about her wedding dress. She also had a cleaning business that she was growing and would tell everyone she was so excited to have her own business and everything was going so well....
I went out with her fiance yesterday to go to a shooting range, we came back to my house and talked for 30 minutes or so and he went home. He called me less than 5 minutes later (they live 2 minutes from my house) and in a panic asked me to come over right away. I sped over to their apartment to find Police already on the scene and I ran inside and began to pray....
We didn't know what was going on but I began calling people and asked them to cry out in prayer for Bekah's life. I followed the ambulance to the hospital and many of us by then had gathered and they rode with me. We got into the ER and they told us that from the time EMT's arrived on the scene to the moment she got into the hospital she never had a pulse. Our paster Dennis arrived and we asked them to let us pray over her and we would be asked the Lord to bring her back!
Dennis lost a child a few years ago (my best friend) who at 15 years old had his heart stopped and though he was dead (no pulse while CPR was performed) for over 25 minutes he came back to life and we prayed believing the same miracle for Rebekah.... this time the answer was no.
We are asking friends and family to surround us in this time and shower us with your prayers and we ask if the Lord stirs you to give financially we are depending on him to provide for us in this time as we gather and grieve....
The next day as we all gathered from various parts of the country I got a call from the hospital (for the first time) that Aravis was not doing so good. They think she MIGHT have N.E.C. (necrotizing enterocolitis) but they think they "caught it before it fully developed" but they have decided to stop feeding her to give her intestines time to calm down. We are declaring LIFE LIFE LIFE over Aravis in the name of JESUS!! Nina had NEC in the as a pre-mature baby herself and she pulled through so we are believing for the same miracle again for Aravis.
Thanks to anyone who made it this far and we ask that you continue to cover our family in your prayers specifically for:
Jackson Henre - Bekah's Fiance (who I have adopted as my brother)
The Parish's - John Parish, Christina (Nina) Parish, Lily, Matthias, Jonathan and Aravis
The Stalder's (Nina's & Rebekah's Family) - Paul Stalder (dad), Angela Stalder (mama), Jessica and Shane Humphries, Rebekah Stalder, Daniel Stalder, Jeremiah Stalder, Anna Stalder, Elaina (Gracie) Stalder, and Samuel Stalder.
We ask also that if you are just hearing this news that you give us space and privacy as we grieve and the moment anything changes we will notify you.
To follow closely what is going on with Aravis join us on a mobile app called "The Jump" if you are reading this on your mobile phone you can use this link to both download the app and join our "jump".
