Hello my family in Christ and friends. I am a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. I have spent much time in prayer recently for the little children around the world that have nothing to eat and no one to care for them or comfort them because there are so very many of them all around the world, and the Lord cares so much for them. The world's suffering is a direct result of the sins of mankind. And we, as followers of the Lord, are to be his body doing his work on earth. And he cares for those who are suffering due as a result of man living outside of God's will. So God's people need to bless everyone whenever and wherever He gives us the opportunity. We need to "Give to anyone who asks," and if someone "compels you to go with them a mile, go with them two" as our Lord instructed us.
I recently prayed to our Father to show me how I could help those of His little ones that are starving and need care. And then one day soon after that prayer I ended up corresponding with a young Brother in Christ by the name of Elkana Ochieng Odiendo who leads Hope, Faith, Charity Outreach Ministries in Nairobi, Kenya Africa. A part of his ministry is operating an orphanage in Nairobi. He has been operating the orphanage since the year 2000. Brother Elkana is simply doing what the Lord told him to do. He started by taking in a few orphans, and now there is 197 children. There are so many orphans in Kenya (and all over Africa) due mostly to HIV/AIDS, and these children are left motherless and fatherless and there is no one to care for them at all, in so many cases. Can you imagine a place with desperate, starving and sick children just roaming the streets night and day with nobody to care for them? If it was my child I would dig through concrete with my bare hands to get to them and protect them.
Brother Elkana is in serious need of $1500 U.S. dollars to build two more shelters to house these orphans at night. Their number has grown so large that the children often must sleep sitting up in order for there to be enough room. And then when the children are very desperate for comfortable sleeping space they will often sleep under plastic tarps outdoors. Two more small shelters, made out of mud and iron sheeting, would be relatively inexpensive and would make their nights so much more humane and comfortable for them. But the funding is needed as quickly as possible because the rainy season will be starting very soon, within a matter of weeks. And then sleeping in the wet conditions will become unhealthy and dangerous for the children.
Also any money raised over the goal will go towards their extremely compromised living conditions. For starters these little children are usually only able to eat 3 days out of the week, and only two meals on those days. And many times it's only a single cup of porridge as a meal. It only costs $560 a week to feed all 197 orphans properly all seven days of the week. So keep that in mind as well, and consider their great need. Brother Elkana does the lion's share of the providing for these children out of his own pocket. He operates a car wash and also does farming work. The very sweat of his own brow is what has sustained these children mostly thus far. He needs help from the body of Christ to do the work the Lord has given him to do.
"Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink?" St. Matthew 25:37
"And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward." St. Matthew 10:42
