Sonny is a precious 4 ½ year old boy who has spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, developmental delay, absent seizures, as well as two eye conditions. Despite his challenges, Sonny boy never lets his smile leave his face! He loves playing with his siblings, especially now that he can run around with them!! He loves cars and trucks, coloring and especially playing with play dough!!
Sonny's mom shares more about Sonny: "Sonny had extensive spinal surgery in October 2017, to eliminate the spasticity (tightness) in his legs. Before having surgery, Sonny used a wheelchair to get around. Having a carrier would help our family so much. Although he can now walk he still tires easily, and gets frustrated when he can’t walk anymore. He also wears SMO braces which are not very comfortable for him to walk in for long periods of time... Having the option to wear Sonny would allow our family to go places with last hesitation because we know he will have an alternative to walking. It will also allow us to strengthen our bond with him, as he loves to be in our arms or close to us in any way he can anyways.”
Carrying Sonny in a preschool sized carrier would help this wonderful family do so many more activities, especially one as simple as getting Sonny to school. Sonny’s school is at the top of a large hill in Colorado and the parking lot is at the bottom! Walking up the hill is nearly impossible for him. Having a carrier can help get Sonny to school safely.
Here is where YOU come in. You can help by providing Sonny and his family with the gift of babywearing. Our goal is to raise $115 to provide them with an ergonomic Kinderpack carrier that will meet his needs and allow Sonny and his family to #babyweartothrive.
Lift Me Up, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing ergonomic babywearing carriers to families who have children with disabilities. It was founded in 2014 and is led by a Physical Therapist with board certification in pediatrics. Lift Me Up is entirely volunteer driven and made possible by donations from the community and babywearing businesses. Thank you for being a part of our mission!
The Carrier Connection by Lift Me Up is a way for you to join the #babyweartothrive movement. We feature families through this Carrier Connection campaign so you can learn their stories and support them personally. These families have a special need for larger sized carriers so older toddlers or preschoolers can also receive the benefits of babywearing. These types of carriers are more costly and more difficult to come by than carriers sized for infants and smaller children. Lift Me Up has recently partnered with Kindercarry to help make our Carrier Connection successful so even more families can babywear to thrive.
Sonny's campaign will be live for 30 days. Once the $115 goal is met, your donation will be deposited. If the campaign is not fully funded within the 30 days, your donation will not be deposited and we will be unable to purchase the carrier.
All money raised from this fundraiser will go directly to providing an ergonomic carrier for Sonny’s family. If funds exceed the goal, all extra funds will be allocated to the next Carrier Connection family.
Lift Me Up is run by 100% volunteers; it’s important to us that every one of your dollars goes towards helping families who have children with disabilities #babyweartothrive.
