Meet Lukas. This fun-loving 3 year old toddler is into trains, playing hide-and-seek, and play dough. He is speech delayed, has sensory processing disorder and separation anxiety. Lift Me Up: Babywearing to Thrive was so inspired by this family’s story of perseverance and the power of love that we choose to highlight this amazing family in this month’s Carrier Connection Fundraiser.
Lukas is getting to be a big boy at 42 pounds, but still loves to be held close by Mama. Lukas and his mother are an incredibly tight duo after weathering some difficulties in life together that had them moving between domestic violence shelters. With the love and constant closeness of his mother, Lukas is now doing really well in a safe home.
Lukas's mom shares more about Lukas and why being held is so important to him: "In May of this year, my son's home daycare was completely burned down in a fire. Thankfully, the children were evacuated quickly, but he was very traumatized by the experience. He asks to be held very often, so having a carrier would help so much, as it is difficult to hold him in my bare arms and it would help him to feel more safe."
Here is where YOU come in. You can help by providing Lukas and his family with the gift of babywearing. Our goal is to raise $115 to provide them with a preschool sized ergonomic Kinderpack carrier that will meet his needs and allow Lukas and his family to #babyweartothrive.
Lift Me Up, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing ergonomic babywearing carriers to families who have children with disabilities. It was founded in 2014 and is led by a Physical Therapist with board certification in pediatrics. Lift Me Up is entirely volunteer driven and made possible by donations from the community and babywearing businesses. Thank you for being a part of our mission!
The Carrier Connection by Lift Me Up is a way for you to join the #babyweartothrive movement. We feature families through this Carrier Connection campaign so you can learn their stories and support them personally. These families have a special need for larger sized carriers so older toddlers or preschoolers can also receive the benefits of babywearing. These types of carriers are more costly and more difficult to come by than carriers sized for infants and smaller children. Lift Me Up has recently partnered with Kindercarry to help make our Carrier Connection successful so even more families can babywear to thrive.
Lukas's campaign will be live for 30 days. Once the $115 goal is met, your donation will be deposited. If the campaign is not fully funded within the 30 days, your donation will not be deposited and we will be unable to purchase the carrier. All money raised from this fundraiser will go directly to providing an ergonomic carrier for Lukas’s family. If funds exceed the goal, all extra funds will be allocated to the next Carrier Connection family.
Lift Me Up is run by 100% volunteers; it’s important to us that every one of your dollars goes towards helping families who have children with disabilities #babyweartothrive.
