America's first Black Live Matter organizer elected Mayor, Kobi has called for more transparency in city contracting and more accountability for South Fulton Police, who are currently under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) for mishandling seized property; and used traffic cameras to fine South Fulton citizens over $20 million in just four years.
Since winning election with 60 percent of the vote, Mayor Kobi’s opponents on the City Council have spent over $200,000 taxpayer dollars on lawsuits and audits trying to remove him from office.
In 2023, South Fulton Police arrested Mayor Kobi and charged him with felony burglary for investigating a blighted property in his city. Within 24 hours of announcing he would not seek re-election, the Fulton County District Attorney's office offered to drop all charges against Mayor Kobi. But after calling to create a Reparations Fund to innocent victims of Police Confiscations (Asset Forfeiture), the DA reversed her decision.
"Folks attack President Trump for using his office to go after his opponents; but this Democrat District Attorney is doing the same thing," says Mayor Kobi.
