Hi! Thank you for checking out our dear friend John's site. John has had an interesting life, always with a heart and focus for serving God and others; his attitude and outlook is amazing. I pray you take the time to read John’s situation below, watch the video, then share with your friends/family on social media—this is an effort worth sharing! We have set up a facebook blog page to share as we use the donations to meet John's needs. I promise you will be blessed—John is “so” worth it!
Thanks again for visiting,
Len and Joanie Kanyo
I was born with Spina Bifida, caused by the failure of the developing spine to close properly during the first month of pregnancy. My open spine included a spinal tumor which has rendered me paralyzed from the waist down. I have had 35 surgeries…the first at 10 days old.
Getting older creates more challenges for regular folks, let alone those with a paralyzing birth defect. In the last 5 years, I have been affected with additional complications that have taken a physical toll on my body. From a spinal cord leak and pinched spinal nerve causing severe pain with every move, to chronic leg wounds, simple actions/movements I used to take for granted are now much more difficult.
To make matters worse, most recently I suffered a torn rotator cuff when I fell getting into my vehicle. This has threatened my ability to stay mobile and independent. Without the necessary equipment, my shoulders are my only means to get around. But my doctor says as long I keep using my shoulders, the torn rotator cuff cannot heal.
So, I am at an impasse; my body can no longer sustain me without help. I really need a handicapped van w/remote control ramp so I can roll in under cover and transfer from chair to drivers’ seat with less effort. I also need a lift-type device in my apartment to help get into my wheelchair, In pricing these “John friendly” devices, new or used, they are expensive and beyond my means to afford.
I feel I still have a lot of miles left inside me—body, mind, and soul. I sure could use help with a team of hearts coming together to assist me in getting trustworthy devices able to meet my needs for everyday life. If you are able to help me in achieving this need, I would be tremendously grateful in every way!
Thank you for taking time to read my request of need! God Bless!
