Cain Velasquez is a former two-time UFC heavyweight champion and regarded as one of the best heavyweight fighters of all time. He retired from MMA in 2019 and has been coaching at his longtime American Kickboxing Academy gym in San Jose.
For all of us who know Cain personally, the accusations are completely antithetical to the man we know—a family man who embodies humility and kindness and does not represent any potential additional criminal risk to the public. While we were all shocked to hear the events surrounding this case, these charges simply do not match the man. Cain did what any parent would have done after being forced to take matters into their own hands to protect their children when the legal system fails to do so.
Cain Velasquez is a man of integrity and honesty. He is a community-minded individual who consistently puts the needs of others before his own. With his family always being the first and the most important, he is globally respected as one of the best MMA fighters of all time and is admired by his colleagues and friends from all walks of life.
Many of you have asked what you can do to help the Velasquez family. While there is nothing we can do to take away their unimaginable pain, we are hoping that the kindness of friends, family and the community can help support them through this difficult time. This isolated incident does not define Cain, nor will this situation break his spirit.
Your prayers, thoughts, and yes, financial support are greatly appreciated. Please give them what you can to show them our love and support and to help them through this unthinkable time. All donations will go directly to Cain's family. He never stopped fighting for us, now it is time that we fight for him!
