Perhaps you know I broke both my wrists December 16. On this divine detour with the Lord, I have trully received one blessing after another by the fullness of His grace. (John 1:16) I consider this a detour because prior to breaking my wrists, I was invited to participate in an Operation Christmas Child Vision Trip to Asuncion, Paraguay, May 27-June 3. When the accident first happened, I thought I might not be able to go, but doctors have cleared me for travel, and I am excited!
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a project of Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. The mission of OCC is to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
It has been my joy to serve as a year-round volunteer on the Aurora area OCC team for five years. For four years, I have served as Prayer Mobilization Coordinator. It's my privilege to lead a dedicated team who pray for the ministry of OCC and invite others to join us in prayer. I intend to use this experience to deepen my volunteer role with OCC and return with a testimony of how God is working in Paraguay.
The trip includes five outreach events. I will be able to experience first-hand the joy that shoebox gifts bring to children, paired with the eternal hope of the Gospel message presented in a culturally appropriate manner by local Ministry Partners. One opportunity to observe The Greatest Journey, OCC's 12-lesson discipleship course, is also included. I might be able to see children attending lessons or participating in a graduation celebration.
The cost of the trip is $2,700. This covers domestic and international airfare, lodging, meals, and ground transportation. Since I am reimbursing Samaritan's Purse for these costs, contributions toward this trip are not eligible for tax deductible receipts. If you are able to support my journey to Paraguay, I will be very grateful. I am responsible for making a final payment to Samaritan's Purse by April 27. You are welcome to contact the OCC Vision Trips team at email@example.com if you have any questions about contributions for this trip.
Thank you for partnering with me in this faith-stretching experience as I rely on God by stepping out into the unkown and allowing Christ to work through me.
With joyful expectation,
Operation Christmas Child Volunteer
