I have been a filmmaker for the past 15 years. I have made a total of nine feature films. I knew that God was guiding me through this artistic journey as I fulfilled my God-given passion to create. It wasn't until my two most recent films "Heavens to Betsy" and "Heavens to Betsy 2" that I realized where God was taking me on this journey; and that was to make films that glorified His name and get a message to the audience that He wanted me to tell through whatever story He directed me to tell.
A couple years ago, I had the scare of my life. I thought I had developed a tumor and suddenly death became a very real possibility. However, I was relieved to find that it was benign and I would survive. God spoke to me during this time and I came up with a story that would reflect what happened but in another more comedic way to deliver a message of hope and redemption.
Through prayer and faith I wrote the script for "Honest to God" following God's lead and inspiration. After a recent script read, one of the readers had this to say about the script:
"Yesterday I had the opportunity to read the first draft of Robert Alaniz's latest script, "Honest to God". At the end, we were asked what we thought of it, and I'll tell you what I told the room: Personally, it's difficult to find Christian and faith based films that aren't "cut out of cream cheese" - meaning, whatever conflict is featured is usually presented in a safe bubble of convenience. But who can say that, as Christians, we walk through our day interacting only with devout Christians and wholesome environments? The fact is, we don't. We live in a diverse world full of all walks of life, and hot-button issues that are complex, yet expressing opinions about them makes you cut-and-dry on one side or another in other people's eyes. I love that in this story, the main character is faced with circumstances that we all deal with at one point or another. It's very refreshing to encounter a Christian film that addresses real life, about real things real people deal with."

I have decided to move forward with developing the film and begin preproduction by the end of 2019 with filming to begin in 2020. As with any film production, it takes money to make it happen. Our plans are to have a complete Christian cast and crew with God as our guide. We are putting our prayers, faith and trust in him to get this film made. As with the two “Heavens to Betsy” films (available on Amazon Prime and Pure Flix) we plan to have the film distributed within the Christian market.
Please, pray for us as we undertake this project and if you feel moved to, donate whatever you can to help see this project to completion. No donation is too small. Every single one is important. Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless.
