Well, here we are everyone. Those of you that know me are already familiar with my health issues. For those of you that do not know me, or my health issues, here's a snapshot into them.
My name is Chad and I have the luxury of being the father to not 1, not 2, but 5! beautiful daughters and the husband to one incredible wife. I don't have to say this, but they are my world. I can't imagine a time without them, nor do I want to. They can be a handful at times, especially the younger ones. I still wouldn't trade it for the world. Let me tell you a little about them.
My 22yr old chose not to go to college yet, but she is very accomplished in her career! I could't be prouder of her.
My 21yr old is an accomplished and published writer. First book was published at 16 if you can believe that! She is in college now and has just recently been sworn in as a CASA volunteer!
I have a 16yr old that is accomplished in her own right. She has surpassed many marks in school and almost all of her classes are college credit now. She is so darn smart (takes after her daddy). She volunteers at local pet shelters.
My 13yr old and 9yr old haven't found their niche yet, but I'm positive they will. They are both extremely smart for their age and are taking classes above their levels.
And now for the grand finale, the big finish, the reason I'm writing this.In 2016 my body went sepsis, for some unknown reason. I went through the gauntlet of testing while in the hospital for that 2 weeks. Including nuclear scans. They were still unable to figure it out. My new team of health professionals are working very hard as well.
Last year my primary doctor, as well as a couple others, diagnosed me as having Fibromyalgia. Then, a month later, that same team diagnosed Stiff Person Syndrome. Almost 5 or 6 weeks later, I had my first ever seizure. I have had a ton of them since.
I have now been referred to Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN for evaluation and testing, as my team of providers can't figure it out. They have been very diligent. They have thought of everything they know of to test for. Insurance looks to be covering most of this expense. However, they do not cover travel, food and lodging. The testing itself will encompass at least 5 days, possibly 7, travel to and from is another 4 days total.
We are a one income family with children, so this is not something we can just pick up and do. So, we are asking you, our family....our friends....neighbors....anyone and everyone we know or do not know to help.
I know that some things cannot be cured or reversed, but, maybe slowed down? I'm really to the point that I truly, only want to focus on the seizures. Those are the worst. They are ever increasing in strength, longevity and occurrence. My seizures are coming from the left side of my brain, which as we all know is where memories are stored. I have lost those. I cannot retrieve them. I can give you a place, date or time, but anything else is gone. And to answer the question everyone has right now, no...I cannot remember doing anything with my children, nor most of the things they ever did.
We are looking for donations to help cover our travel, food and lodging expenses. So if you can donate, please do. If you cant, that's OK as well, maybe consider passing this along.
Oh, and yes, I have filed disability.I have been fighting for it since 2016. It is a very difficult process.
Prayer goes a long way! Please pray for us. Pray for the doctors. Most importantly to me, pray for my 5 beautiful, courageous and loving daughters.
