Christina is a young mother who is struggling severely with Multiple Sclerosis. She and her eight year old daughter live alone and are barely surviving off of her social security payment of $790 a month. On a daily basis she is in chronic pain due to her illness. She struggles to walk, her cognitive processing is delayed, and she threatens having strokes due to her high blood pressure and over 17 lesions on her brain. So far Christina has only had mini strokes. Being disabled and a single mother to an eight year old is a difficult struggle for my dear friend. Unable to work she survives on a limited income. After paying for rent, groceries, and other household necessities Christina is left with $80 every month. Every month the $80 is used for extra food, medication, and toiletries. There have been times when Christina couldn't even buy toilet paper and I had to give her money myself. Christina has medications that are not covered by medicaid that total up to $1000 every 6 months. With no money left over or to save these medications are never received. Everytime we speak Christina worries about her young daughter. She barely has any family and the family that she does have, have expressed that they are unwilling to financially support her or her young child. I am pleading to the public to please help Christina provide for her daughter and buy the medication that could improve her quality of life. God bless you all.
